Confirmation Services

We want our confirmation services to be meaningful for the candidates, but also easy to follow for visitors who are not used to church services.
We hope that with modern technology it will be possible for each confirmation to have its own printed booklet containing all the words needed.

Confirmation may, on consultation with the Bishop, be combined with either baptism or the eucharist, or both. This gives four possibilities; but if there is to be a eucharist, any of the eucharistic prayers might be used. For simplicity, we have prepared texts using only prayer D (which does not allow for a proper preface) and prayer E (with a confirmation preface). If desired, you can replace these prayers with other authorised eucharistic prayers.

For each combination below we offer a text with notes, and a service template.

We suggest that you:

• first secure agreement about whether baptism and/or the eucharist is to be included.
• choose your eucharistic prayer, if necessary
• print out the appropriate text with notes
• save the appropriate template file to your c: drive
• read the text with notes
• then edit the template file to prepare your service booklet.
