Admission of Children to Holy Communion

Getting ready

The Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham is one in which baptised children may be admitted to Holy Communion, in parishes which have fulfilled certain conditions.

All the information that you need to discuss this issue in your parish, and take the necessary pastoral and administrative steps, can be found in this document: Admission of Children to Holy Communion (this is an rtf file which can be opened in most word-processing software).

The Rite of Admission to Holy Communion before Confirmation

This is an important occasion, and should be set in a context of celebration. Suggested texts are given in the document above, along with advice about making the most of the event.

There is also a Church of England 'commended text' available , both in this PDF document (which contains other initiation material as well) on the C of E website, and in this RTF document (which you can edit into your order of service).
